Tanmawwy (Candy Ride {Arg}--Wasseema, by Danzig), owned by Tanmawwy Partners, gave birth to the first NY-bred foal of the year, a filly by Central Banker, at Vivien Malloy's Edition Farm in Hyde Park, N.Y., on New Year's Day.

Bred by Shadwell Farm, the unraced 6-year-old mare Tanmawwy was purchased at the 2020 Keenland November Sale carrying her first foal, a filly by the young Shadwell stallion Mohaymen. Her dam Waseema was a multiple stakes winner and graded stakes-placed in Europe, who also produced stakes-placed Ekhtibaar (Bernardini).

"She truly is a New Year's Day filly! Tanmawwy delivered the beautiful, flashy bay filly at 5:00 a.m." Teri Brown, manager at Edition Farm, commented. "This foal is the first of 30 to be born at the farm this year."
